The "better" promotional items requiring so many boxtops and MONEY which we didn't have much and you had to mail it all out and then have to wait for the package was too much work
We all have stories, funny and sad from our formative years. Let's face it, we not only survived we were resourceful, connected, and imaginative. They are still playing 70s music in all the stores and movies made today. Here's a trip through memory lane and how good we had it....without any cell phones, super expensive name brands, and the time of our lives.
70s cereal and the prizes inside them
The best cereal was Lucky Charms. They had pastel rainbow sugary marshmallows that were crunchy. It was as much visually as yummy. Best deal was Lucky Charms with a good prize but the best prizes came in Super Sugar Crisp and Honeycomb. I think the ultimate prize, for free was the free record, in vinyl on the back of the Honeycomb box. First we had to wait to eat the entire box of cereal. Then you would cut up the back, poke a hole in the middle and we couldn't believe it actually played. YOU could get Bobby Sherman, the Jackson 5, The Monkees to name a few.
